God, I had to refrain from responding to some of those sickening rape-related posts because I didn't want to fuel the discussion any. Many of them made me sick, as well. It's just hard for me to fathom how people think it's ok to say some of the things they said...and then defend them so vociferously! Gah!
In any case, it's good to hear from you, good or bad. Are you going straight to grad school when you come back to the States? If not, you should stop by the bay area!
I have two weeks between arriving in NorCal and having to be in Vancouver, but I'm not sure how much time I'll have--I've got to sort through all my stuff and am going to try to spend some time with my family in Ashland. My dad wants to put me on his raw/green diet while I'm there (says it will "cure me of everything"), so maybe I'll try to escape down to San Fran for some yummy junk food. You could always come up to visit my parents' house in the woods, too!
The thunderstorms last night in Portland were astounding. 600 lightning strikes is what they said. I got to watch the whole thing from under a tree in a park, it was just beautiful.
There was a big story happening as well, my friend Jenn the biologist (class of 2002) has this sister, see, and her sister has babies sometimes, and the most recent one appeared during the middle of the thunderstorm. Those guys are one of my fake families in Portland sometimes, and now there's a new one. Extremely joyous

I'm with you about the comments on the posts related to the rape. It made me sick to my stomach to read what some people thought.
On a more lighthearted note, I'm flying back to the US on Aug 6th, and before then I'm traveling around with a Eurail pass. I'm not sure how much longer you have of full-time work, but I'd like to see you again before you leave. Do you have much time?
I've got full-time work almost up until the end--I have so much stuff to get done before then it is kind of overwhelming. But! If you're up for visiting me here (in calmer times), you'd be more than welcome. I'm not going to be here from July 10-14 or probably 24-27, and I'm trying to plan a weekend to Berlin at some point (either July 18-20 or August 1-3). I dunno if that will work out, though...
I checked the site but I haven't seen anything, I would like to know what is going on at Reed even if it is bad. If you don't want to talk about don't worry if it was taken down it is probably a good thing.
I hope everything is going well for you. I love Thunderstorms too! Love.
