Advice: Plan your syllabus in advance - what you'd like to achieve each week and what they should be able to do by the end.
Repeat repeat repeat. Give people lots of practice of each thing. Just because they did it right once didn't mean they got it. They could've just fumbled into it. If they get it right three times in a row, and get it right with different people then you're probably good to move on.
Each time you repeat, give them one area to focus on - feet, arms, frame, connection, one piece of a turn, etc.
I take it at Victoria's/Robinson's? I've never heard carnivillain mention any interest in learning to waltz, but I'm going to mention it to him anyway!
