For almost a year now, I've been in what I call "turtle mode".   I've pulled my head inside (pulled inside my head), ignored everyone around me, and done nothing ( Read more... )

Eating a healthy, fiber rich breakfast is very good for losing weight, because you're full until lunch, so no desire to eat between meals.

A good breakfast also kickstarts your body in the morning, preventing it from making fat, because it thinks it's not getting enough food..

and.. Alpha release without a decently tested beta? How... Windows.. :p

The same goes for my mind.

You've outlined what you plan to do to "fix" your body. What about your mind?

Where the body goes, the mind will follow.

When my body is active, my mind gets active. When my body is a lazy lump, my mind shuts down, too.

Spaz: you should know that the body and the mind are interconnected. What benefits one will benefit the other, and vice versa ( ... )

oh, and after you've been eating that for a couple months, go back and eat a bag of your favourite chips or something.

There's this party mix that Meagan and I LOVE(d). WAYYYYYYY too salty now to enjoy.

Same with Doritos. I used to be able to eat them by the bag, and I don't even smoke pot!

Now, can't even manage a hallowe'en sized bag.

I already eat like that--and have for years.

The closest I come to pre-packaged foods is Macaroni & Cheese (and I only use that as a base on which to create something different). Salt is lightly sprinkled over steaks that are going to be grilled, and that's it. Salt is not a spice; it's a rock. I use fresh meats, herbs from the garden, spices from Penzy's (curry, fenugreek, galangal, ajwain, rosemary, chives, basil, sage, etc.)& fresh ground black pepper. I fry ramen noodles in the wok with fresh produce (some from my garden, the rest from the grocer), or I steam some veggies and have them with a little butter, black pepper, and dill.

I eat out maybe once every other month. And that's usually Subway or my sister's restaurant (and she uses my Grandma's recipes, so I know those meals are healthy) :) A couple times a year I'll crave McDonald's. That's when I know that I need more sodium; so I get a Big Mac & fries and I'm good for another 6 months or so. Any other time, packaged foods are disgustingly salty.
