One of my Deviantart watchers http://blood-red-x.deviantart.com/ posted a 'nationality quiz' that I found rather amusing. I certainly hope it was authored with the intent of being amusing, because it's pretty insulting and stereotyping (especially to Americans and Asians). Somehow, I have the feeling that the author was some borderline racist,

Wow, the Asian one is really quite racist, isn't it? Especially the slanty eyes thing. I hope the person's European because if this person interacted with a lot of Asians there's no excuse for not knowing how offensive that kind of statement is.

Actually, wow, the whole thing is pretty racist.

Like I said, the 'Degrassi' line makes me thing a high school kid wrote this (Degrassi is a drama aimed at teenagers that aired on Nickelodeon a few years ago).

I know kids say a lot of awful things, but a lot of the things this kid is saying is extremely horrible. If the kid is American, then the problems of race in America is worse than I thought. There's no excuse for an American to say the things written about black people in the poll. I am Malaysian, and the only black people here are students...and I know better than to say some of the things mentioned.

I tend to think that, "the problems of race in America" is a bit aggravated by popular media. Think about it: if some impressionable, foolish (as most kids are), probably sheltered middle-class white kid sees nothing but references to gangstas and thug life in regards to the African-American community, what is he or she likely to think about African-Americans?

EDIT: there's more than one reason why I think Hollywood is evil, evil, evil...
