Those of you who know me (few and far between) know that while I am pretty progressive on most issues (foreign policy, economic policy, LGBT rights, social issues, etc), I am very conservative on Constitutional rights- including the Second Amendment, but all of them. Curious: Have you read Dan Baum's Gun Guys: A Road Trip? Of all the books on the gun topic, this is a must read for all who consider themselves liberal, but who regard firearms as a protected right.

(I just uploaded a podcast on the topic. I'm not sure how well I explain myself, but I could give you a link if you're interested. Alternately, Baum was well interviewed a few years ago on another podcast, the C-Realm, episode 356: Gun Guy.

(In fact, I might use the Australia info if I follow up on the gun issue.)

I haven't heard of the guy until now, actually, but I did read a few reviews of his book (one being from Mother Jones, about as liberal as liberal can liberal). I might just have to pick up a copy and read it (as soon as I get caught up on Discworld. Gotta have priorities ( ... )
