Making The Most Of It

I'm sure most of you know my feelings about the election results: not good. But I've done some thinking. I'm working on kitting up myself and some friends with non-lethal personal security gear. I'm getting myself a gun. I know how to make the economy work for me, up or down, and I'm close to getting the resources I need to take advantage of ( Read more... )

On a side note, do you realize how psychotic that first paragraph sounds? Like, the whole thing? I'm sure I read this wrong. I must be reading this wrong. But I'm reading "McCain lost, so I'm getting a gun to ensure my personal safety."

I'm not sure putting guns on everyone is still the right way to prevent gun related murders, but whatever.

Cancer is bad. =(

I didn't get a gun because I expect a sudden upswing of crime. (Though with the likely economic outcome, that's a possibility too.) I got it because Obama is crazy about gun control, and since I've always intended to get one, I thought it best to get one while I still can. The gun, and the non-lethal tools, which tend to be restricted right along with guns, for some absurd reason.

And the numbers show that crime goes down substantially when people can fight back against the criminals. Criminals aren't looking for risk and adventure - they want easy prey.

And yes, cancer is bad.

"they want easy prey."

Like any animal, basically. It makes me wonder how many people who have signs advertising their security systems actually have said security system, 'cause I sure wouldn't fork out the money when a fancy piece of cardboard can accomplish the same thing.

Yeah, most gun control legislation tends to also encompass non-lethal defense products like stun guns and pepper spray. It depends on the laws in question, though, and a lot of people don't know or misunderstand them. In a lot of places, people are told that stun guns are illegal, but it's not illegal to own or carry or defend yourself with one, only to assault someone with one. Don't ask a cop or anything - look up the relevant laws on your own, because cops often don't actually know.

And remember, if you keep it discrete, and only use it when you need to defend yourself, most cops are going to applaud you, whether or not it's actually illegal.

I like the Big Kahuna as a supplier.

No, not CT. They're trying to determine whether or not the spots in his lungs are cancerous. Which I do believe actually is called a PT scan. It's pronounced "pet," usually.
