Summary: After everything they’d been through Sam felt entitled to be a little over protective.

Notes: Finally back in the saddle!
Three hours late. Sam is worried. Fiona is grumpy, which learned means she’s concerned too.
Three hours and Michael’s still not there.
They go searching everywhere they can think of. Finally, they go to the dock. Harlan is tied up next to El Jefe’s body. Sam takes this all in but his eyes stop and his heart does too.
Michael lays there, slumped against the wall. He’s pale and a bit of purple is already showing up on his cheek, then Sam’s eyes get caught.
Michael’s bleeding wrist.
Sam is vaguely aware of calling Fiona, he’s vaguely aware of running across the room to Michael and hovering over him. Sam will always remember how thing slowed down as he stood there, trying to still himself enough to check his friend.
To check if his friend is dead.
Then Michael lifts one eye.
“Hi S’m.” It’s slurred …but Sam really doesn’t care. Sam drops to his knees and pulls Michael to him. Later they will pretend it never happened but in that moment Michael gets it.
Sam rocks back on his heels and gives his trademark grin. “It’s gonna be one interesting summer huh?” Cause some things chance, and some don’t.
