This group came into my Race and Ethnic relations class today. I don't think I have ever wanted to parttake in activism more. If anyone is interested in helping the cause, let me know.
Yeah, my dad and I ran into them a couple years ago. Neither of us will so much as look at a Taco Bell product anymore.
They were also mentioned in a National Geographic article about modern day slavery. The article was one of the best I've ever read. It cited many examples of the slave trade even within the United States--even within the city of Atlanta. Very, very frighetning and upsetting; I highly recommend reading it, if you ever find a copy. Here's part of it: http://magma.nationalgeographic.com/ngm/0309/feature1/index.html
I actually heard about this article, but I never got to read it. The irony of it is, that the international cover for National Geographic had the article about modern-day slavery on the front cover. The one released in America had pictures of Zebras in the savannah on the cover. Ridiculous.
Thanks for the link though, I'm definitely gona check it out.
