What do you say to dogs in other languages?

Like, obviously, you can say whatever you want to dogs, that's part of their charm, but specifically what you say to a dog in English is "Good dog!"

Russian:

"khoroshiy pyos", if the dog is male, and usually not applied to small dogs, "khoroshaya sobaka" to any dog.

It's interesting that, at least in English, there's no one thing you say to cats. Cats are presumed to be uninterested in your feedback.

The first thought I had is that you would tell the cat that he/she is beautiful... But I have actually been calling my cat "beautiful boy" in Russian, so...
