i agree.
i haaate that soo much!
i hate it more when people say "let me go now"
it makes me think, hmm have you been miserable the whole time i've been on the phone with you that i must let you go now.
it sounds like i've been holding them captive.

i think it makes sense if you use it at the right time, like if you called someone while they were eating or doing homework, told them something quick, and then said, "well, i'll let you go," because that's pretty much what you're doing. you're letting them go back to whatever they were up to before. right?

but it doesn't make sense to use when the speaker has other things to attend to, and you never have to let someone go. that is just dumb. ugh.

hey i see you in 3 weeks, by the way!

yeeeah in that way it does make sense. but people start to use it as just an excuse if you have nothing else to do. yaaaaay three weeks!
