I love a lot of books on this list! :) We read "The Things They Carried" last year for summer reading. It's great~ And I love Cyrano de Bergerac. It makes me want to learn French. And I went to a Kay Ryan reading; she's so vibrant.

I need to read more Margaret Atwood. I've only read the Penelopiad.

I read Cyrano de Bergerac in middle school, and I can still do the "I am too proud to be a parasite speech from memory." I can recite a lot of shit from memory, including the prologue to Canterbury Tales in Middle English and a poem I learned in third grade, but I can't remember shit I did yesterday. It's kind of ridiculous.

Well, the movie version of Lord of the Flies was laughably awesome. "Sucks to your asthmar!" is my favorite line, and I use if as often as possible, mostly because people have no idea what I'm referencing and just think I can't pronounce asthma properly.
