for the last week or so, my mind has been constantly racing with confused thoughts about what i want to do after i graduate. before this year, i felt like my mind and heart were both set on going to medical school and becoming a physician but after this year, i'm not so sure if i even want that anymore. i mean i want it, but i don't know if i ( Read more... )

"even if i do get in next year, i won't be done with school until i'm 27 "

Brit, babes, I won't be 27 until I graduate either because it took me 5 years in undegrad. Don't let that discourage you. I'm one of the youngest people in my class. Out of 138, I think there's two people younger than me. So don't worry about that. As far as letting one test get the best of you, I think you're right. Just one little back track shouldn't make you rethink your whole future. Try it again, you'll be glad you did. Love you, IM if you need to talk!

thanks carol. i know, the age thing really isn't what is bothering me that much. i guess i'm just having doubts, i don't know why but i am. im scared because i'm almost about to graduate now... i think i'm gunna end up taking both tests and just go from there. the problem now is finding the time and motivation to study for two hard and annoying tests! lol
i didn't know it took you 5 years in undergrad? why was that??

Lol, a couple of reasons:

Reason #1) orgo I (had to take that bastard twice)

Reason #2) orgo II (had to take that bastard twice too!)

Reason #3) genetics (had to take THAT bastard twice)

Reason #4) calc II (had to drop it half way through the first time because I was failing miserably)

My point is, I had a lot of set backs too, causing me to graduate in five years instead of four. If you graduate in four, but need an extra year to prep for the MCAT, no worries. Don't lose motivation just yet girlie :o) Hang in there, let me know if you need ANYTHING!

I think everybody goes through doubt in choosing their career. I mean, I think it's kinda crazy that we're suppose to know what we want to do with the next 40 years of our lives by now. My only advice (and also what I'm going to do) is to get out of undergrad as soon as you can and jump into the job (or internship) you originally wanted. After a few months or a year of that, you can decide whether it's right for you or not. But at least you'l have some experience and some other ideas of jobs that interest you.
