I switched my engagement ring to my right hand after getting married (& wear the wedding ring on the left hand); I believe it's traditional to wear both on the same finger (left ring finger), but my engagement ring is asymmetric & doesn't fit next to the straight-sided wedding ring. Also I am a bit weird about rings and I like them to balance between right hand and left hand ...
That's what I plan to do, for much the same reason.
Although technically my engagement ring was actually an anniversary present in the first place anyway, and originally worn on the right hand so no-one would think it was an engagement ring.
You should be fine! Wedding/engagement rings are definitely left hand items by tradition (although of course you can wear them however you chose). Therefore people are less likely to assume you're married if wearing rings on your right hand than your left.
My understanding is that it's left hand for most purposes (US/UK), although the bride sometimes moves the engagement ring to the right hand during the wedding so the new ring can be featured on the day. Wedding ring on the right hand means you've either divorced or are German.
You have to remove the engagement ring for the wedding ceremony anyway, as the wedding ring is supposed to be worn under the engagement ring if you do wear them together!
I know which hand is usual, but I wear mine (both of them) on the right, because I occasionally get ring-aggravated eczema on my left hand. I sometimes wonder how the average person-who-doesn't-know-me interprets this.
Hi :-) I suspect it will come as no surprise if I tell you that al_fruitbat animated it. And then someone protested that we didn't really get fired out of the middle of our wedding cake ;-)
