I'm back in London after a few days in Vienna, where I read at Vienna Lit 2008 and gave a lecture to a literature class at the University of Vienna.

Bruce is a goo writer. He is alos a good teacher for thosee of us who also try to and like to write. His idea of letting us see his draft as well as his completed work is a good one. Thanks Bruce for sharing your technique and thoughts with us.

...and disturbing.

Seeing the final draft of this, I was just... creeped out. (In a good way.) But reading the longer version, the creepy factor is definitely lessened -- I like it, but I LOVE the other one; I kind of prefer to know less and be weirded out.

Sometimes less is more. It's worth noting, though, that one subscriber has written to say that she liked the longer version better, and I'm sure there are others who felt that way but hesitated to say so ( ... )
