The sudden popularity of the Ironman challenge approach to WoW has had the side effect of reviving interest in other kinds of player-chosen challenges, too. While browsing links to threads about them, I came across reminders of players trying pacifist leveling, which is just what it sounds like - going through the game without killing anything. Trying this, and enjoying it. Progress went a bit less slowly once I turned on Find Herbs and turned out not to be in a wasteland.

Pondering CraftCraft, where one tries to progress primarily by crafting, craft related quests (and the sudden yet inevitable experience points gained in gathering supplies) while ignoring the distracting war stuff.

I forget. Do you get any xp for crafting as such?

With the exception of Darkmoon Faire, and some vestigial remains of "produce X items for Y", I'm not aware of any xp for actual crafting. I think there are some that give xp as well as a recipe, though I know a lot of those have become inoperative. Line no longer forms to the Trauma Surgeons and inventive cooks.

More data needed.

But getting stuff together, and the "here is the grad student taking the temperature of the partially-tranquilized gorilla" data collection provides ample opportunities.
