Instant Link Previews on LJ

I see that livejournal has gone to Snap! instant link previewing on any hyperlinks inside their system.  I'm glad to see that they have jumped on board one of the single most user-unfriendly net options since the blink tag.

Honestly, if they don't do away with it, I may never use LJ again, despite the fact that it is my primary way of keeping up

I believe there's a way to turn it off in your browser. Not sure if it's a Firefox plugin or Greasemonkey script or cookie setting, but I'll see what I can dig up.

I hate it too. It screws up the "back" function, because apparently having one of those things pop up counts as a page view to my browser [Safari], so then I can't just hit "back" once to return. UGH.

I sent a message to LJ central registering my opinion. We'll see if anything happens.

Go here. You can universally disable them.
