There is a chapter in Ellen DeGeneres's book, My Point and I Do have One, that is about fears, and spiders in her shoes is one of them. It's a pretty funny.
And I always watch the Karate Kid when it's on TV. I can't get enough of that Mr. Miyagi & his Japanese wisdom. I cannot believe that Pat Morita died. :(
I am a freak of nature in many ways, but the one that I am most hated by my female relatives for is my strangely small feet. I mean, they're not itty bitty lil things but I am 5'8" and my shoe size is 7 or 7.5, most women my height wear a 8.5/9 at least. Actually, most women I know at all wear at least an 8, and that leaves me with all the best shoes. :)
the beach in "winter" is like another planet to me. It was very hazy and dark, sort of disorienting! I always check shoes (mine and Owen's) and even jacket pockets. Sometimes beneath couch cushions. Oh man, I need help.
i compulsively check my shoes for spiders. sometimes i will be on the bus or metro and i will get a terrible urge to make sure that there are in fact no spiders in my shoes. the funny part is that no one looks at me like i am weird, it's like they all understand.
I check my shoes for cat toys, because they usually have a ball or mouse in them. The boys love squealing with glee in the morning because they feel a cat toy in their boots!
I despise spiders, yet I'm freakishly drawn to their webwork.
