Antiques Roadshow

Two tickets to the Antiques Roadshow taping this morning just fell into my lap and I'm sitting here wondering if I want to go or not. I'm not a spontaneous person and last time (in San Antonio) I had a panic attack when the appraiser put my mother's pearls in her mouth (yes, that thing where they test if a strand of pearls is real against their ( Read more... )

If you feel like it would be torture for you I really wouldn't go. I'm not a spontaneous person either and would need to prepare myself for something like this!

I really did need the mental preparation as well as a way to get awkward pieces of art downtown. it would have been okay of the mister was along for the ride. He would have engaged the people in line in conversation. He's a lot more social than I am :D

Don't go if it isn't going to be fun for you. Especially if they're just going to chew your pearls. Eww.

Mouth to jewelry contact was not in the myriad rules and regulations! I had to look online about how to clean them without screwing up the enamel. I wear them, lady. Near my face!

In retrospect, it was more about the long day and the long lines and the jewelry appraiser not being the appraiser that regularly wore jewelry I really collect that this woman dismissed out of hand, but still, boundaries were crossed!

I definitely agree with you about needing mental preparation for this type of thing.
If you can't just grab something and go without stressing about it then maybe give it a pass <3 *hugs*

I did give it a pass and now I feel terrible because while I was showering a friend called and said she's like them if I couldn't use them and I didn't see the message until the event was nearly over. Fail all around.

Oh, well, tonight there is rock to be had and hopefully that will turn this day around.

Okay, I am a huge dork and I love antiques roadshow, so I'm going with the "drop everything" option.

However, I can see how it might be more fun with company. Can you convince a friend to join along? :)

I didn't get a nibble on anyone coming along when I did an email, telephone message blast until it was too late to participate. It was just too last minute for everybody.

Ah, shame. Perhaps it wasn't meant to be?

I'm a big Antiques Roadshow dork, too, but I'd been before and had a panic attack so that played into my decision. The mister tried to get off work but two co-workers had called in so he was stuck. Also, the two items I wanted appraised were large and heavy (you really don't want to waste four or five hours standing in line to get something silly looked at).

It really wasn't meant to be.
