thats my family too. my mom is one of 8 kids and everyone else had kids and then all the cousins had kids. so i have something like 21 first cousins who all range from the age of 2 years old to 35 years old. weddings are the best b/c we just get drunk and dance.

by the way, i never asked what a "quince" is. i'm guessing it's a big fifteenth birthday party?

yep. its a traditional hispanic ceremony for when a girl turns 15. its her celebrates her transition from a girl to a young woman, kinda like a bat mitzvah. usually the quince party involves choreographed couples dancing, wedding-style decor and dresses, and tons of preparation. it is a huge deal in miami.

my cousin's wasn't very stereotypical quince, but more of a blend of several different cultures. katherine's was more of a huge party with some traditional stuff thrown in. she did give a speech in spanish, which was cool.

i decided not to have one because i figured no one in memphis would know what the heck a quince was. (and i was definitely not cool enough to invite 150 people to a party at 15.)
