I know what it is to be passionately in love. The way it feels to throw all caution to the winds. But I was a young man then - or younger. Fearless. Well, maybe that isn’t completely true. Who honestly really can be completely fearless? If you can lie to yourself - you probably can be. But there is always fear, it’s the fear that makes you ( Read more... )

Passion, I have found, drives fear.
You feel so strongly about something/one that you're fearful to be seen as vulnerable and end up hurt or exploited.
At least, in my experience.
They're like yin and yang. You can't have one without the other.

You're very right about that. They both drive the other.

I've accepted that hurt is part of the experience of passionate love - it balances the euphoria. in this matter - I never really thought I could win in the end. Only enjoy what I could while it lasts.

I fear you're right. In more ways than either of us wants to admit.

Perhaps the universal thrust of wanting what you can't have is the hope that somehow, you can win it for yourself and beat the odds.

I'm not sure if I can beat the odds since it's a subjective thing. It would be difficult to make odds. Besides you know her, would you make book on her one way or another?

Well...that's where your post falls into the truth of things. Maybe I'm a bit cynical, but if you haven't snagged her heart by now...it's probably not meant to be.

You're probably right. I'll never know if it's the timing or the other difficulties that surround her/us.

What's meant to be will be, I accept that. Even if she feels she doesn't have a heart worth "snagging."

There's always a little fear, because no one is ever sure about anything especially when it comes to love. You always feel like you're one of those circus people on those tight ropes trying to get on the other side but without the safety net beneath you to break your fall.

I've been listening to your song, Slave to Love quite a lot lately. It's the perfect song to kind of sigh over, don't you think?
