Loaner Bike?

Well, as soon as my biking season began, it appears it may be ending... I was out last Friday with a friend and just as we were finishing up, my right pedal slipped off. I haven't given it much thought, but it will probably fall under the category of "not worth repairing." And I don't really want to go out and buy a cheap bike, since I'm hoping ( Read more... )

Actually, you can probably borrow my mountain bike this weekend if you like.

A pedal shouldn't be a big deal to replace, though, right? I mean, even if you're about to get a much nicer bike, I'd imagine it would still be worth replacing the pedal on the old one.

I should note that I've put very street friendly tires on this mountain bike, and have done nearly all of my long rides on it (including a 93mi ride). So I know a mountain bike may not be optimal, but it's been good to me, nonetheless.

I should also note that I'm leaving town for the weekend immediately after work on tomorrow, so if you want to borrow mine, you'll either need to pick it later tonight, or ask Grayden if he'll be around when you need to pick it up.

How did it break? Snap? just the pedal? the whole arm?

If it's just pedals and you're not too particular I can give you pedals.

Unfortunately none of my bikes are in a condition to be loaned out, and
I'm taking the good bike with me this weekend.

Having never worked with pedals, I'm not too sure of the terminology, but the pedal slid off the spindle that it usually spins around. As in, I can still arguably ride without the pedal, but my right foot will tend to spin forward without the pedal there.

I may take you up on that offer so long as pedals tend to be attached in a standard way that hasn't changed in the past three decades or so...

To the best of my knowledge, pedals are pedals.

I'm going to piece out my burning man bike since I don't need it this
year and it's in sad shape. I believe the pedals are plastic. I'm
still trying to find out if my road bike is worth anything, if not those
would be available too :P
