We mourn. :( I guess you've seen the way someone with power can say in public something outrageously horrible that should make people scream with wide eyes. But instead, people just listen and accept it, and I scream quietly that more people should be outraged and appalled.
Like in the Aeneid, when they bring in the horse full of Greek soldiers, and because it's fated by the gods, nobody sees past the insidious tricks. It's probably not the same thing, but... any excuse to talk about the Aeneid. ^_^
I know I kind of wrote about my own stuff without actually talking about what you said in the post. But we read and listen. Adverts scare us, and have you seen this episode of this show?: The Persuaders (Frontline) It's about media advertising and how/why people use marketing to persuade people. It makes us think about how people who watch commercial TV can get such a wrong image of the world through seeing adverts.
