...and Mark finished digging the lines of the labyrinth last night! He is such an amazing man, and I am so grateful for his efforts and love with this project. When I arrived at the house today and saw the finished labyrinth, there was a sweet heart drawn in the ground in the center with his hand-print in it. I am going to miss Mark and Michele

Yes to the microwave. For the vent, get it set up so that the motor of the fan is on the exhaust end so it won't be noisy in the kitchen.

Unfortunately, there is no vent for the hood because of the way the walls are set up. So, I would have to do a conversion hood anyway. But I'm thinking you're right about the microwave :) Now to find one that I like...

It's looking like I'm going to be in Cali over Thanksgiving!

This is wonderful! I'm excited for the finish of your labyrinth. I just bought finger labyrinths from J the Rockstar at the L2 this weekend. They were a set going in each direction so I have to read up to understand which is which.
