It sounds like getting around is going to be difficult for her for a long time. Maybe a group of you could offer to play chauffeur for her son (if he's not old enough to drive), and do her errands for her on the weekends while you're doing your own.

One idea I had was maybe you can set up a rota to clean the house and do the laundry.
I think one of the best things you can do for her is to visit as often as possible because I would think she will get pretty lonely for adult conversation and keep her up to date with what's happening at work.
Thanks. All good ideas. The visitng often we've been doing. The cleaning is a good idea though. She lives a good bit away from most of us (she commutes 30 minutes to work) but we might be able to work out something.
She had her first surgery and is doing well after that. Still a LONG way to go though. Keep up the good thoughts.
