So I started on this book and I was surprised that it wasn't totally boring. I know we're not supposed to like Rosie but I can't help it. I used to be in dance classes too and have to rehearse and do shows so I know what it was like. Of course, I only did dance and my mom wasn't a rabid stage mother. I remember loving doing shows because I got to

Not hard when Caludia misspells her own name.
She says that such an outfit gives off an air of 'artistic, fun loving, a good sense of humor'.
I get a sense of Annie Hall on drugs.
K Ron has all the stealth of a bull in china shop.
Mythbusters did a segment on this. The bulls were surprisingly graceful and avoided almost everything.
a Mary Anne outfit-'a loose-fitting open shirt over a teal turtleneck with off-white chinos and white sneakers'.
Wow. Even for that time, Mary Anne was dressed like a soccer mom.
Claudia shows how smart she is by wondering if Squirt will use that nickname when he gets older. Yes, I'm sure a 16 year old boy would have nooooo problem with a shame and innuendo laced nickname like that.
My 7-year-old is still called Boogs. :)
Mrs Wilder talks like a lunatic rich person. Mrs Wilder answers the door and Claudia takes their having art prints on the wall as a good sign. She notices that there's classical piano music playing ( ... )

I signed up for extrasonly-dot-com, and have had a few calls about commercials. You get those, and then say if you're interested or not. The pay is usually between minimum wage and $18 per hour, YOU SUPPLY YOUR OWN WARDROBE (unless it's for a clothing company) AND DO YOUR OWN HAIR AND MAKEUP, and you don't get residuals. Yeah. Commercials really make you rich and famous....
Rosie goes to rehearse and after a while Rosie's tap and voice teacher come over.
Um, even back then, someone over the age of 18 had to be present....

OMG I didn't even think about that embarrassing body function teen boys have at times they'd rather not. LOL!
I've never heard of residuals for TV commercials. Even famous people get flat fees. In the early 90's, it was expected that four years of college could cost $50k. No commercial will pay that and residuals to a kid who isn't massively famous (and even then, it's usually a flat fee that takes into account how often a commercial is likely to play). Why on earth would a commercial company do that when there are so many people wanting to be on TV, even commercials, that they'd do it for free? That makes less sense than me getting a tiny residual for each time the episodes I was an extra in aired...all one time each will air since The Librarians sucks. It just doesn't happen.
Good point about the reason Claudia may not try. If she can't be as geniusy as Janine, may as well do the opposite.

It makes me think of the Princess Bride, you keep using that word I don't
think it means what you think it means.
Claudia says Rosie is getting on her nerves. Because she didn't want a disgusting food combination
It takes so little to annoy her.
Bwa hahahahahaha! I'm sorry but I find this fucking hilarious. I've said it many times before, but I hate willful ignorance and the fact that Claudia is getting outsmarted by a third grader is just amazing to me
Me too. Its so funny and awesome. A third grader is smarter then Claudia. Really anyone is smarter then Claudia
Uh, she lives in an average neighborhood in Stoneybrook. No wonder Rosie thinks Claudia is an idiot.
Its really so easy when it comes to Claudia.

Yeah, it's not like Rosie was rude about the milk duds. She just said they didn't go together. But because she's a quiet, serious little girl, she's not allowed to go against the BSC without being labeled demon spawn.

She really does. All the time, about everything and everyone.

No of course not. It does still amaze me though so many things they get upset about. Anyone who's ever baby sat kids most the things the BSC get upset about are no big deal. Like Rosie's comment. Most babysitters would have just seen it as a comment, no big deal. Because it wasn't and they have actually sat kids who really were brats.

When they go for a walk, Rosie correct the spelling on Claudia's note. --Putting myself in Claudia's shoes, I'd be so fucking humiliated. At least I'd try my best to do something about it.
You would think that this would make Claudia think to start doing something about it but you're wrong--I blame the educational system just as much as I do Claudia tbh. If somebody that doesn't have a learning disability can write "Who are you?" instead of "How are you", something's wrong somewhere.
Claudia says this isn't humor.--I would've gotten a small kick out of it. It's not like Janine's gonna come to your room and tell a bunch of raunchy jokes.
So many boobies.--Mary Anne might like to look at those sketches! lol, I had to go for the obvious. :D

It's always opposite day in the 'brook! Where teen girls gush over babies and know more than their parents, and teen boys throw 'welcome spring' parties and hire horse buggies for their girlfriends and babies know all the lyrics to hundreds of songs and like playing marching band over watching tv! It's opposite city!
I just don't get that about Dawn. WHY does she need to comment on what people are eating every single time?! Like you said, they're not forcing HER to eat it! They don't even make any comments on her health food yet she goes out of her way to call people disgusting for liking something SHE personally doesn't. Ugh! I HATE Dawn! You're right that if it had been Dawn who was offered milk duds, she'd never let Claudia hear the end of it. Rosie just declined them, Dawn would have gone on a seven hour tirade about how you're gonna ( ... )

Claudia used to be one of my favourite characters - I alternated between her and Mal just because I loved to write and did very well in English class but otherwise struggled to keep my grades from dropping below C- - but now she just annoys me. I’d understand it if she struggled with math, since pretty much everyone I know does (I sure do), or science (fascinating as it is, it’s not easy stuff), but to struggle with everything and to really not care, especially not enough to make a decent effort? I got lucky in the sense that my parents’ attitude was always, “Oh, well, we know you did your best; maybe next time, you’ll do better” and they were always willing to help me, but I was one of those stubborn kids that wanted to do it all myself and ( ... )

I guess that the point of Claudia’s difficulties was that many readers could relate to her, but it wasn’t as well-done as it could have been ... people shouldn’t be shamed for having a learning disability, but the books kind of go the opposite way and shame people for being smart, especially people who dare to think words should be spelled properly. And the way the writers always insisted on saying that Claudia didn’t have any problems learning and that she was actually above-average mentally make it sound as though a learning disability would be something to be embarrassed about, but being sloppy and uncaring makes you ‘cool ( ... )
