Dawn's Book- Part 3

Feb 06, 2017 23:03

Hey, guys. Sorry if this part is sort of boring. It is not as snark-worthy as the last section. I figured out what pisses me off the most about that segment. It's the fact that Dawn applauds herself for being an individual, and then she meets Sunny, who is the epitome of an individual, and she goes on Judgey McJudgerson on her. It's so hypocritical ( Read more... )

Once again Dawn starts to defend herself to us by saying she, Sunny, Jill, and Maggie were best friends but not "one of those obnoxious cliques."--Two things--From what I know about Sunny, Jill and Maggie, they do seem laid back and aren't bitches. I always got the feeling that Dawn's one of the ringleaders when shit gets stirred up in the BSC. Kristy being the other ringleader. Here's hoping the other three friends can override any of Dawn's bitchy, obnoxious, judgmental times ( ... )

So do I. Kristy and Dawn are the to ringleaders. Most of the crap wouldn't even get stirred up if it wasn't for those two.

I don't... get this random anti-hippie thing. From what I remember of the series, AMM loved making Dawn and everyone in California as hippieish as possible. I mean, Dawn herself is implied to be a bit of one, isn't she? More of a 90's hippie, but nevertheless. I guess some of it could be that Sunny "converted" Dawn, but even Sharon's implied to be a bit of one, right? It just seems odd that this book is "Cali hippies are weird" when AMM's practically obsessed with them elsewhere.

I know a very happy couple who act like regular friends in public and even when we're alone. They'll hold hands a bit or maybe cuddle occasionally, but they've told me that affection is private to them.

It's so hypocritical and it shows Dawn really isn't an individual at all.

She's always been like that. The person who REALLY epitomizes individuality is Claudia.

Jack initially suggests that they go see them in Connecticut but Sharon doesn't want to because she is so disorganized

Wouldn't a trip ANYWHERE require some organizing?

Sharon thinks her parents will be too old and frail to do a lot of the activities

San Francisco requires MORE organizing. Hotels, food, transit, etc. This trip is a mean one when she knows her parents are physically frail. San Fran (it's where I'm from!) isn't an easy city on older people.

They get to their hotel and go to Chinatown.

Ann's never been to Chinatown if she thinks people can walk apart. It's seriously packed there.

Pop-Pop doesn't want to eat at a vegetarian restaurant in favor of eating fish Almost every place that serves meat serves vegetarian dishes too. Dawn needs to stop trying to force her food preferences on everyone ( ... )
