Greeting, my dears! Well, even though I'm stewing in my own juices, I had the need to snark! And lemme tell you, the whole time I was working on this snark, Spoopy was playing with her...presents in her litter box. I think that was her way of commenting on the quality of this book. I kept yelling at her, 'Stop playing with poops!' which she'd reply

Gerbils on the other hand...I raised them for ages.
Frodo
Pippin
Strider
Legolas (who it turned out was actually an Arwyn and Petsmart's inability to sex animals resulted in the rest of this list...)
Ash
Ebony
Kirby
Teddy
Bliss
Saffron
and then because the gerbil group I was in said that I needed to keep the father with the mother when the babies were young...I wound up with litter number 2.
Shinta
Sora
Cobalt
Tomoe
And two or three others I can't remember off hand.

Kristy is always doing things that are inappropriate and then saying it's a joke. Look at how she acts at lunch, she knows no one is amused by her and it downright upsets Mary Anne, her best friend, yet she keeps doing it. She thinks she's flawless and everyone should enjoy everything about her. The fact that someone might not is incomprehensible to her.

The BSC and everyone else in Stoneybrook and her dance school and everywhere.
Being around white people does feel uncomfortable at times. My uncle's ex was white and we were always stiff around her and her family.
Solely because of skin color?
She asks her mom who she should vote for and she says she can't tell her that.
President: Claudia
VP: Dawn
Treasurer: Kristy
Secretary: Mary Anne
Butt-monkeys: Butt-monkey 1 and Butt-monkey 2
Done.
Why didn't the jr. members get to be in the elections? Just because they're younger? Taking responsibility for someone else's kid is more responsibility than taking care of $15.
She goes to stroke him and he tries to bite her. That makes her think their must be something really wrong with him and calls her mom. Jessi asks her to drive them to the vet and she says okay. When I worked at a vet hospital many yeas ago, if we'd had someone bring in a hamster solely because that hammy nipped at someone in the middle ( ... )

Yeah, the BSC never act like upsetting Kristy is like, 'I said I'd do this thing and I'm not able to and that's a bit of a hassle'. Like you said, they're afraid of her. They act more like nervous employees with a temperamental boss than like friends in a fun club.
I'll gladly join you for ice cream but no wine, I'm allergic :/
Kristy doesn't know how to make a joke. Because really what she was saying was 'See how bad I could be? Aren't you glad I'm treating you so nice?' It is like an abuser pretending to hit someone. She was putting them in their place, plain and simple.
Mrs Mancusi didn't say exactly when she'd let them have the hamsters but she did say they have to wait till they're weaned.

I'm also nervous around devoutly religious people. Religion is a choice, unlike race or gender. The religious people I've encountered most in my life have tended to have very hateful beliefs and to be the most judgmental.
Allergic to wine?! That sucks. :(
Another abusive tendency of Kristy's was mentioned in a comment above, about how she'll do things that she knows upsets her friends, then says it was just a joke, basically putting the blame on them for her actions. Friends should never be afraid of their friends. Sure, occasionally nervous about breaking news about something, but not anxiety-inducing abject fear!
Thank goodness at least weaning was mentioned. That may be the only real responsible thing in this book.

This always bugged me as a kid. Why weren't Jessi or Mallory considered for any of the offices? Why can't Mallory be secretary? She loves to write and probably would do a good job. Why can't Jessi be the treasurer? Or president? No one ever considers this not even Mallory and Jessi. They've never once thought they'd like to be president, vice president secretary or treasurer?
