I've read and laughed hysterically at a thousand of these things, and I just finished my final uni exam for the year a couple of days ago, so I figured that I might have a go at snarking one of these books myself ( Read more... )

What is so scary about starting a new school year AT A SCHOOL THAT YOU ALSO ATTENDED THE YEAR BEFORE?--I'm gonna give a pass here. I can't relate to this very much because the middle school I went to did this. We'd change classes but the classrooms were very close together. The only time to really get out and about would be going to a side course like a foreign language class, Technology, etc. SMS doesn't sound this way. It sounds like the grades are separated and the classrooms aren't close together. So I can understand if Mary Anne has some nerves about being able to find her classes, adjusting to a harder course load than last year, etc ( ... )

I truly do feel for the friends that got left behind. How can it not be a case of wracking your brain while trying to think if you said or did something to your friends that won't even acknowledge your existence anymore?-- In the party that they throw later in this book where they bring out a surprise cake for Mary Anne, Stacey (who puts together the guest list) invites everyone from her old table, but not the Shillaber twins, who Kristy and Mary Anne sat with every day for two whole years. I've read a heap of the books, but not all of them (maybe 30 or 35 books out of the first 50), and I don't recall the twins ever being mentioned again ( ... )

The thing about Charlie taking on a father-figure role after Patrick left makes a whole heap of sense - I'd never thought of it like that before!

I'm gonna give a pass to the freak out. This actually seems like something a lot of kids/teenagers would do.-- It seems like the type of thing that Stacey would do though - not Mary Anne. I was a shy kid, too, and there's no way that I would have ever shrieked over a photo of a celebrity on the cover of a magazine. In fact, I hated girls who acted that way, and Mary Anne just doesn't seem the type!
