Oh, this made me tear up for both of them. This is a special kind of shippiness, almost bromance. There's so much agape love here in such a tragic place.

Religious Saul really works for me too. I don't exactly see him going to temple, but I can see him having regular.. chats, or something along that vein.
My heart just breaks for Saul here, and I'm just shuddering thinking of how you have him overhear Laura. Then I really like the connection you make at the end between the two of them and what he hopes to learn from her.

This is lovely. I really like the faith connection, since I have religious!Saul in my headcanon. It fits perfectly here as a connection between them.

I think the two of them could have built each other up quite a bit if they were willing to share with one another at that time.
