I think I was imagining him visiting her in friendship and her responding in kind, especially when she sent Tory to get water. I don't know why, because what you've written is actually more true to the canon vibe of them being somewhat adversarial during the trial. Him hearing about the surgery on the wireless underscores the distance between them.

I really like the way this plays out, starting in one place and ending up somewhere completely unexpected.

This is great. When I prompted you, I was picturing first season but this is a fantastic place to go with it.

First season did go 'oh, pick me, pick me' but I decided to try something a little different.
