Community Day: Ten Lines

Oct 07, 2015 15:29

Sign up below if you'd like to do some writing.

Other people will give you a fic title (anything they like).

You then write the first ten sentences of that fic. You can use any characters, any genre, anything that fits in some way with the title you are given. But only ten lines.

Maybe it'll turn into something you'd like to finish?

The Darkness Before Daybreak, Tory, Roslin, (implied Laura, Billy) singerdiva01_sk October 8 2015, 04:58:34 UTC
“You’re a bit early for the sunrise, Madame President.”

Tory’s voice startled Laura out of her reverie but she wrapped her arms around her against the New Caprican chill and smiled up at her aide. She tried not to wince at the cigarette in the girl’s hand or imagine the blanket Billy would have ventured out just to wrap around her shoulders. Instead, she patted the ground beside her wordlessly.

“I’m not here for the sunrise, actually. It’s something about the darkness before the dawn.”

Tory settled down beside her and lit her cigarette, fidgeting in a way that screamed she didn’t know what to make of her former boss’ words.

Laura let the silence, not exactly comfortable, stand and looked back up at the two brightest sentries in the darkened sky.

Galactica and Pegasus, Bill and Lee Adama, standing watch over her -- their -- people.

Billy wouldn’t have had to ask. He’d have just known.

What an astute pearl, grasping both women, their relation and Laura's emotional space!

I love this so much! This is so Laura, and so Tory. I can see Tory trying to parse out just what Laura meant and whether there'd be consequences if she didn't seem to "get" it. And the image of the two ships as sentries in the sky...I love that image even if it didn't last. Yes, Bill wouldn't have even though to ask, he'd have just gotten it :-)
