Honestly, I still wish she was half-Cylon rather than the angel she turned out to be. The angel was just disappointingly anticlimactic and seemed like a copout, along with the other religious handwaving in the fourth season. The whole bit with old Earth and the civilization of Cylons and humans made more sense to me, and I wish they had stuck with that.
I loved this for the Kara too. I seriously can't watch Maelstrom ever again (it's too triggery), so this plays on what we learned there and builds on it...somewhat. Oh RDM, never really answering questions.
I know what you mean...in my head!canon, Dreilide is Daniel and Kara is half-cylon and all that. I know I'm not the only one. It's not a perfect solution, but it's a lot better than all the non-answers we got from the show.
I'm one of those that really likes this episode. Sure, it's frustrating that we don't get many answers (an unfortunate pattern), but it does a great job of conveying the one foot in front of another type of existence life has become post-mutiny

I love this episode too. Like you said, it captures that "one foot in front of the other" kind of life. I mean, the opening scenes with Kara giving the briefing--the exhaustion, the monotony, the last tube of toothpaste! I can't get enough of that sort of thing.
I am just agreeing with everything you said, but I too despise the idea of Kara being anything other than herself. If she is somehow a different Kara, not the original--well, she's got the memories/personality/instincts/issues/emotions/everything of the original, so what, if anything, makes her not-Kara?
When I think about this episode, I tend to think only about Kara/Katee, but as I was writing up the recap I began to appreciate the fine work that Grace Park did here. She's kind of amazing in this episode as both Boomer and Athena.
I kept trying to believe that Tyrol had just knocked the Eight unconscious, but I pretty much doubt it. I would like to believe that she's just unconscious--and I think I did believe that the first time around--but if you look closely in
( ... )
I'm unsatisfied with the 'reveal' of Number 7, Daniel -- I had hoped for more resolution. Although, I suppose that's what fandom and fannish pursuits are for, right? :D
I'm not sure how I feel about Kara and her special destiny. On one hand I'm glad Kara wasn't half-cylon, it made Hera unique and truly set the whole "new race" thing up in the final episode -- maybe outlining how we'll finally break the cycle or something. On the other hand, it was rather anti-climatic for Kara.
