Editor's Note: I frakked up copying and pasting this the first time. I missed key scenes at the end which substantially impact the story. Mea culpa.

Oh my goodness. This is amazing. I have always had a soft spot for this fic, and wow - you just added so many layers. Saul's POV is perfectly spot-on to how I see him and the inclusion of Bill's family just puts the icing on the cake. I love how those bits just flow around the original. You have painted such an effective picture that I was in suspense, and I knew what was going to happen! This is truly a marvelous surprise. Thank you so much, remixer. I am in awe.

Plaid! I'm glad that you liked this, although I must admit, it took me a long time to figure out which of your such well-drawn stories I could do anything interesting with, and so by the time I got writing, I was under the gun. I go back now and can see where editing still needed to be done, and I'm hoping I can do that once it's on AO3, where I think I can get access to it.

But I hope you liked the basic story underneath it, and I hope you got to see the last two scenes that Lana accidentally dropped off the ending the first time she posted it. I think it really changed the tone of the story to have those two scenes included, personally. :)

Anyway, thanks for letting me play in your sandbox and I hope it was a pleasant experience. Thanks for keeping Remix alive for so long.

I did not see those scenes! But I've read them now and they are really the icing on top of the cake. I love seeing Saul's pov as he is recovering. Perfect ending. Thank you again so much!

This was a pain in the ass to format, once I found out it was too big for one post and couldn't schedule it, but I knew it would be worth it.

It is a marvelous complement to the original work.

I'm so glad you like it, PS.

Wow. This is such a wonderful take on Saul, Bill/Saul, and how Saul relates to Bill's family and vice versa. And as PS said, such suspense! The reader is sweating right there alongside Saul as he wonders whether or not he's going to get taken out that night in the hotel.

Saul's reaction to treatment -- his initial doubt, the pain some of the hard truths he has to face while in the program, his eventual pride in getting sober -- is rendered so well. That line about alcoholics liking big gestures and his determination not to do that is very real and hurty. I really appreciate that Saul knows that getting his life back on track with Bill isn't going to be easy and that being sober will change their relationship in big and small ways. This whole thing feels very authentic in such a good way.

Thanks for reading this long thing! Your comments made me really happy. I'm so glad you liked the family dynamics stuff. I got really interested reading plaid_slytherin's original story in the family around Bill and Saul, especially when they've got this sympathetic family loyalty thing going on and yet they are gangsters and killers without remorse about it. I started wondering what it would be like for Bill and Saul to be part of this family, especially Saul. I mean, what is it like to be Joe Adama, where killing your son's boyfriend is an option if you don't think he's good for your son? What is it like to be Saul Tigh, knowing that unlike with other in-laws, you have a relationship colored by the awareness that an epic screwup could potentially mean your death. How do these people have dinner together on Sundays ( ... )
