Oh, this is perfect, fleshing out a shorty kink into aching, rich back story and amazing sequel! I love the language here, and the details of Laura's thinking, all the little slights and indignities that Richard throws at her...it really explains so much better why she'd make the choices she did. And her pleasure at looking at Bill in repose is just a dream come true for Bill fangirls :-) It makes it more realistic and reasonable that she would spend the night with him after the way he made her feel. And I love her thinking of him, then and now, as "stately!"

“My one question,” he continued, “is whether you always get your men so plastered they can’t get it up before you sleep with them or is that a tactic you reserve just for me?” I died at this :-) The whole reveal is sweet and loving and funny...very accepting & understanding of her actions back then. Felt like just what she needed. And the burst of good humor at the end is a lovely, positive touch--just feels good and right for both of them!
