That must be part of it. Lee, Helo, especially Gaius all have much more obvious ways of getting off, when all Gaeta gets is a throwaway line, http://media.battlestarwiki.org/images/0/0c/Pegasus_-_got_any_porn_in_there.mp3 . And even that hints at his difficulties of getting along by himself.
