A few modly/discussion-y type things:
To put the success of
this project in perspective for you all, I went through and counted all of the fics posted at
bsg_slash from the beginning of Oct. 2007 to the end of Sept. 2008. There were roughly 27 m/m fics posted to the community in that time. I say "roughly" because I didn't count separate parts of multi-part

I'd like a fic exchange a lot. Especially if it's in late December or later because I'll be on a break where I won't know what to do with myself anyway. I've done fic exchanges in the past and they were always a lot of fun.
The comment ficathon was amazing (although I really should have gotten some beta). It actually got me thinking about characters I'd never thought about much before, like Hot Dog from writing him myself and Sam Anders from reading about him. I didn't read all fics but the ones I read were all great :).

As far as getting a beta, that is always a good idea. Especially if you're unsure. (I didn't notice anything, if it helps.) While comment fic is more carefree that way, there's still nothing wrong with finding a second set of eyes before you post. (I know I edited my Lee/Simon Tam fic about 4,000 times after I posted it because I kept finding things - I really wished I'd sent it off to my beta first!) I think you've made me aware of something we should be doing, which is having a post for betas during each event so that people who need one can find one. I'll definitely mark that down for the next event!

I would really like a fic exchange, too. Maybe have people submit a few pairings/prompts, like in this event, and also submit a list of things they either A) would prefer to write or 2) would not ever write under any circumstances, lol. Then pair people up based on that? Just guessing, as I've never organized anything like that before.
But in any case great work with the ficathon and I'll definitely be participating in future events.

A fic exchange is definitely the leading trend here, so it may very well happen. There are several ways you can set it up and I've got some ideas, we like to go for "simple" around here, though, so we'll see how that plays out.
Thank you!
