I really enjoyed this. I love the depth with which you've written about Laura's insight into the differences between Starbuck and Kara. I also really like that Laura seems to look at Kara through motherly eyes.

there will be a Kara down there, a Captain Apollo and all the others, all those brave souls.

I think it's true that Laura would find comfort in knowing the people she's come to care about would live on - that her death would allow for their survival brought her a sense of peace.
