being and not-being, that is the question...

Okay reaction to  the New Skins. Aka "Fredd(dddddddddddd)ie(!!!)"

I really enjoyed this. I like the actions that ultimately affected Freddie  weren't really  over the top. Well, I guess Effy's actions sort of were, but  I really liked all the little things that the episode highlighted. I liked  when they focused so intently on his arm and Effy's being so close together. Though, I think at  the same time that scene  highlighted the differences in expectation between Freddie And Effy. Even though it's interesting to read her face because she seems to be feeling it too, the fact that she did reach over and stroke him kind of showcases how Effy isn't quite "innocent" for lack of a better word  in the way that Freddie is. For him, just being NEAR this girl that he likes is the main event.

like that the show sees that Effy/Freddie can't work despite there definitely being a connection. At first, I really didn't sympathize with Effy at all for fucking with Cook again after everything, but then again I think that, her bringing that random guy to the pub, and bringing Freddie in to her broken home all are Effy doing her best to show Freddie that she is fucked up and unloveable. She feels she'll break his heart because she's dark and flawed and fucks things up, but at the same time she does really like him. Which is why she came to the shed and why she swam out to him was well (loved that scene).

The thing I like about Freddie most from seeing this is that he's real in that while around JJ and Cook, he's very protective and always knows what to do, there are dynamics wherein he has no clue what to say or do. Of course,  his family is an example. I liked when he couldn't articulate what he was feeling to his Dad and Karen, because I really relate to that most of the time. With relationships you've been in all you life, it's really easy to get stuck in your role. I thought it was interesting how Freddie is tired of his most tiring and successful role, as Cook and JJ's caregiver. I like in one setting Freddie is seen as dependent, ungrateful, and unmotivated and in another he's the most independent and supportive and caring. He just goes from one extreme to the other.

Other things:
Wish we would have seen a little something that suggested how things were with Pandora, Pandora/Thomas, or Pandora/Effy. I did like Pandora's Voldermort comment. Though, I have no clue what she was talking about.

It was interesting that Naomi was interested in Effy/Freddie.

Cook was a prick this episode. I still find him quite interesting, though. And loved his, "Nice one, Blondie. She's funny."

JJ breathed fire!  Oh, JJ, I hate that he just lets Cook use him like that. I hope he reaches self-actualization in his own eppy.

JOSIE! I I JUST LOVE HER.

There
was another old cast reference besides Anwar, what was it? I forget.

I love when Effy dropped the "piss" can.

Ugh more lots. BUT I MUST SLEEP. Sorry about the typos.
