I have a request for everyone. Since this is my first home buying experience, can you share with me what things you noticed, or are still noticing, about your homes that you wish you knew before you bought

I remember when my parents build their house, the electrician never wired the hallway which was supposed to be done according to the blueprint. So vacuuming there was such a pain in the rump.
If you’re not buying a new home, pay for an inspection. Well you should do that even if it is brand new. You want to have the foundation checked, plumbing and roof (Is it a brand new roof? If not how long ago was the last one put on? Did they replace the roof or did they simply roof over it, was it just a leak did they patch it or have to tare off the roof? Check the ceilings and walls for any discolor, dark yellow, light yellows and browns. I could ask my dad to that for you. That’s what he does for a living

Fantastic ideas. I will be compiling a list and you just gave me several awsome ideas. I'd like to use the check list (to the anoyance of a reator) to see these things. I know that this is what a inspector is supposed to do, but there is nothing like having an inspector miss something that I end up paying for later.
yeah, the inspector on our home said my roof was fine, remember? Remember all the crap I had to go through to get them to fix it? And THAT was a brand new home!

I would strongly advise always paying for a home inspection, though.
