As we approach our 42nd anniversary (June 25), I still forget that our definitions of things are still so far apart. For example, we decided that the 4 wheel drive vehicles don't get put into 4 wheel drive sufficiently often (like never) to keep all the pieces and parts lubricated. John suggested that we take my 4 Runner and his truck on a back ( Read more... )

You followed Dad onto a dirt road? ARE YOU MAD!?!?!

See, you never went hunting with him and the old Toyota truck. I distinctly remember several occasions where he would say the road gets "a bit squirrely" right before we would drive up a giant rutted hill that had Marv's 4x4 stuck in the bushes to the side.

I'm convinced we only lived through some of those roads because his axles were shorter than any other vehicle that traveled on the road, so we only ever had one set of wheels in a rut at any given time. He may have been able to drive with the ruts on both sides of the truck on occasion.

Dad might not be able to back up, but he is great at getting vehicles into and out of locations they have no business ever being. Do not follow him onto a dirt road. Ever.

I only remember getting stuck with him a couple times... mostly due to parking near or in snowbanks.

Following him to a dirt road that is 'not too bad' is a recipe for a long day. But nothing should be destroyed. :)

I am surprised that Caroline hasn't chimed in about Texas roads. ;-)

I shan't suggest it again. Instead, I'll suggest driving down the neighbor's long graveled driveway.
