That is quite a lot of water for living in the desert. At least you have a data point to be able to figure out what exactly is going on.

5gal/min * 60min/hour * 3 hours/day ~ 900 gallons per day of watering.

So that means in the 17 days since April 24, you have probably watered every day, not two times a week. Hmmm.
