For the wedding, the venue requires us to "have someone there with a liquor license" in attendance -- my understanding is this can be a bartender, or a waitperson licensed to serve alcohol.

Anyone have or know someone who has such a license?

Mine is long expired. :( I suggest hitting up friends who are cozy with the restaurants/bars in Bloomington. Dan Baucco had a license; dunno if it's current now.

How hard are these to get? -- they suggested we might actually have a family member apply for a license in time for the event -- it might be as much or less than paying someone.

Depends on the type. Contact the BAC (Bev/Alcohol Commission) and ask what you need to acquire a server's license (that's the easiest to get). When I had mine it was like $25 or something and you paid and that was that. Lately I've heard things have changed - possibly classes? But I could be wrong. No matter; if the ninny servers at Jillian's can manage it, someone you know can do it with their eyes closed. ;)

i'm pretty sure there are classes you ahve to take now, but i could be wrong. i know that john vitello ('tender at second story) occasionally rents himself out. so if it turns out to be cheaper to pay someone than to have a family member/guest get the license, let me know and i'll put you in touch with him. altho he's a skanky jerk, so do you want him at your wedding? (i mean, he's not, like, covered in pus or anything...he cleans up well, he's just a jerk to the ladies...but, that prob. doesn't matter much at your wedding...)

hi john, we have parts of your beautiful wedding invite here sitting on shannon's desk and we've been trying to figure out how to make your wedding... can you please give us the exact dates. somehow we managed to lose the actual information but managed to hold onto everything else. we know the deadline is nearing (two days-- blush) but if you give us the dates we can give you our answer. we both want to be there. and hope we can arrange our schedules to make it possible.
