That kind of thing doesn't make you think because it makes no sense. I mean, if you want a better thought, or at least a real one, how about making sure that you are living life the best you can, and not just staying in a cocoon hoping to come out one day.
The fact that you misunderstood this metaphor so greatly, shows that you clearly don't have a spiritual side. The metaphor isn't saying that you need to sit still and do nothing until you die, and only enjoy your afterlife. What it is saying, is that you need to make you "time in the cocoon" as productive, and as good as you possibly can, so that your "butterfly" stage can be better. So it is actually telling you to live your life to the fullest, as opposed to sitting dormant all your life.
It's this kind of immature interpretation of these kinds of things that make me frustrated.
It's not immature at all, you just didn't understand what I was trying to say. And it's blindly literal interpretations like this that make me frustrated.
What I meant to say, and perhaps inferrence isn't enough for you, is that life is the "butterfly" stage. You can't work toward a goal that will kill you to achieve, work toward a beautiful life.
