Having dismissed the Imperius Curse completely, she had gone through several books on hexes before deciding it was impossible a hex could maintain this much fortitude over time. Pouring through a book on charms for a break in her heavy study routine she looked up crossly at the sound of gum snapping.
Unable to ignore the sound a second longer she attempted a nice demeanor. She tried to smile, not meaning to sneer. She tried to whisper, it wasn't supposed to be a hiss as she asked the young girl, "I don't suppose you could be quiet for another 30 minutes perhaps?"
Really that was all Hermione had left in the library anyway and she attempted to smile to take the sting out of her words.

"Right. Sorry," she whispered, pulling the deflated bubble back into her mouth and going back to silently chewing it.
Almost as if to make up for the lack of sound, she started tapping the tip of her quill against the edge of the table as she tried to concentrate on her work again.

"Is there something you need help with?" She bit out through practically clenched teeth.

"Oh. No, no I'm fine," she said with another apologetic grin.
"Sorry if I'm bothering you. Are you doing anything particularly important?" Conversation, maybe? That'd be a fairly good distraction for now, though the other girl looked just about ready to bite her head off. Might as well give it a shot.
