I really enjoy this! :D As always, your imagery is really beautiful - I always get this kind of wistful feel from it, like "the sky was warped around the edges with grey tinges... he could see a yellow glow trying to fight its way through the heavy veil" (': Loooovely.
The dialogue is sharp; it shows a lot about Carrington's state of mind without being too obvious (and especially since we haven't read whatever comes right before this), and I liked the little "Merry Christmas"!
(Hahah sorry for the analysis, I'm working up to the English A2 exam next month...!)

Yeah, I've got a load of exams coming up soon as well. Revision is not that fun at all (except for History! :DD).
