Does anyone even care that Saddam Hussein is going to be executed within the next 24-36 hours? I mean, other than President Bush, who for some reason, probably thinks it'll help his poll numbers.

I don't know. I guess when you're voted the biggest villain of 2006 in an AP poll, you'll take what you can get.

I just got back last night from a 10 day trip to Israel. I have no idea what happened in the world in the last 10 days. So now that I know what's going on I can start thinking about caring.

I don't know, in Texas and Florida they put people to death for mudering 2 or 3 people. Why not the man behind the extermination of millions of Kurds?

If they had captured Adolf Hitler after World War II with all his atrocities what do you think they should have done with him? Kept him in a comfy cell? He could only be trouble by that point on.

Sorry, my feelings towards Saddam Hussein's execution is more "good riddance".

i think the question "does anyone care" is more disbelief at the lack of interest than anything. He was a horrible man, and (i think, anyway) should be put to death. The fact that it will go by practically unnoticed is a little disturbing. It should be a time to reflect on Hussein's victims, and it's being ignored.

The reason it's going on 'unnoticed' is "they" don't want it seen as an American 'thing'. It's supposed to be the first Big Thing the new Iraqi government does 'for itself'. That said, at the time of this posting, it has been completed. They said there was one camera and one doctor at the event (I'm making it sound like a concert or something). I'm just curious how fast it'll be before the footage, if there is any for real, gets around on the internet.
