TiVo

(a) Yay! TiVo!

(b) Why the heck do they put two USB ports on the back of the TiVo, and expect you to buy a USB ethernet adapter? USELESS. If they're using the space for two ports, why not one USB and one 10BASE-T? Growl.

-bb, btw, does anyone have a spare USB ethernet adapter lying around?

Because USB circuitry is much cheaper, of course, and:
a) 90% of TiVo customers won't use the port so why not keep costs as low as possible on the base unit, and
b) Some Day Soon something else will be connectable to the USB ports, and
c) Why 10Base-T when so many of us are using 802.11b instead? This way they don't have to choose.

If they've already put a USB controller in, it doesn't cost anything significant to add another port. Adding an ethernet controller would cost a little more and also need more room. (Not that much of either, admittedly, but things add up).
