Views from the Van

Aburri Gardens

Back On The Bus

I'm too lazy to go back and make them all bigger...

I love this picture! We stopped on the side of the road to make some phone calls and we started talking to these children. We sang happy birthday to one of them (I doubt it was even his birthday). They couldn't understand us, and we couln't understand them, but it was so cool.

Wli Falls

the kids were chasing us

Elise, Me, Sam, Alisa, Alex

Nick, Lisa, Alex, and Zach

notice the bats on the rock face. they were everywhere! and they all started flying around when people started screaming. ha.

We had free time, so we decided to play with the children in the town.

Our hotel in the background. I think this kid worked at the hotel.

Caitlin, Evelyn, Alisa, Laura, Alex, Sam

Liv with a baby antelope a villager found

I asked them to take a picture with me and I was surrounded...

Homestay in Breman

This was the welcome ceremony that they had for us. When we first arrived, as we got off the van, we were surrounded and we were getting hugged by women and touched by children. It was insane. Then they led us around the town in a parade to this area, I guess it's their meeting place. People crowded around on all four sides to see us. The elders were up in front, we all gave speeches, and then shook each others' hands twice.

My room with the mosquito tents up

Goats. Everywhere.

My neighbors pounding fufu

This is a look down the main street in Breman

The Chief's house to the left and their nursery school to the right.

Chloe and Caitlin

Scott and Nick's house. They were making some wierd thing, I still don't know what it was.

Chloe with our brother Justice.

This is technically my sister, although she was more like a mother. My father was in his 70s, so his children were all adults. So, who I refer to as my siblings are really his grandchildren.
She's throwing a football we brought in this picture.

Our sister, Portia's friend's baby

My sister(I never knew her name for some reason), Portia, Me, Justice, and Benjamin

Weekend Away in Elmina and Kakum Nat'l Park

Elmina is a slave fort, by the way. But the views of the coast, amazing that day.

They laughed so hard when I was pounding fufu.

Women making the journey into Breman from the worksite

The school was almost finished when I took this picture

Towards the end of the project villagers were flocking down to the worksite to help us finish

A secondary project

Another secondary project

I always wondered about this woman; She lived acrros the way from us, but never seemed to move from her door.

I love my Antie Na-Na!

This was how they cooked.

Portia and her friend, and the baby

At Sister's store (she sold sodas, lots of Fanta)

Soccer. The team was amazing, but they had no funding, lots of them were playing without shoes and stuff. So, with some of the money we raised we decided to buy them uniforms and cleats and all sorts of great stuff.

These girls were dancing and having a great time at the soccer game

Jenna

I really wish this picture had come out, so that's why I still posted it

Ansah (my dad!) and Portia

Ansah and the unfinished portion of his house. After I took this picture he asked me and chloe to send him money to help finish the house

Global Routes gave each family a tree, and we planted it with them. This is us with the tree. It was really sad, cause it was the last full day we were there with them, and the first time we were all together as a family. It was so hard. But, after I initiated a water fight and we were happy again!

Final Travel--Mole Nat'l Park

the first safari

About to charge us.

The village where we saw the elephants. Imagine waking up one day, having breakfast, and, oh hey, there's an elephant in the freaking backyard!
