It's official. I've become completely addicted to Rock Band. I got a copy of it for waysofseeing for Xmas, and it turns out to be the best family gift I've ever given. WoS and I have been playing just about every day since Xmas ( Read more... )

Excellent -- thank you for the info; not the most obvious place to put downloads.

And our user names on XBox Live are the same as our Livejournal usernames.

Terreciel uses the same user name on Xbox but mine is TenaciousKnight, in case you were wondering who the weirdo who requested adding you as a friend was.

Re rockbanddrumpads: I did a little more Internet research. The consensus seems to be that while the basic idea of modding the drum pads is sound, these pads provide too much muffling and not enough 'bounce.' The preferred idea seems to be gum rubber.

I've ordered a set from these guys, who have apparently been swamped with Rock Band-related orders. Will report results.

Pamela and I are really into Rock Band as well. We played at her sister's house on NYE with a bunch of people and it was a blast! We want to have our own party soon so our friends can come over and play with us. Good thing I unlocked all the songs on Solo because getting good enough scores in Band mode when you've got folks of all different ability levels is a real pain. Quickplay is where it's at when you've having a party!

My personal goal is to get through "Ride the Lightning" on Hard.

Oh how funny -- we did the same thing on NYE at a friend's house. Another friend brought over her 360 since she'd unlocked just about everything and had a bunch of downloads. We spent the evening on Quick Play rotating people in and out. It was great fun.

Rock Band = ultimate party game of 2008.

My current challenge is surviving Train Kept Rollin' -- I can't quite get the rhythm right on the fast part of that song.

Rock Band told me today, and I quote: "You can get a real guitar for pretty cheap. It might be time to think about an upgrade."

That's because you play everything on "expert" my dear. Besides, as we are well aware, playing guitar and playing guitar on these games have zero in common.
