Safari: Faster load time, faster page load time, reasonably easy to use, looks cool.

Firefox: Far better security, lets you get rid of most ads on most web sites, has several cool features for power keyboard users, allows for "add-ins" that provide a lot of flexibility in how the browser looks, acts, and works.

I use Firefox almost exclusively.

What WoS said; I also use Firefox almost exclusively. Somehow the Apple apps (Mail, Safari, iCal) all have little behaviors I quite dislike.

Aside from blocking static ads, the FlashBlock add-on for Firefox will create place-holders for Flash objects, which means you stop seeing the really annoying animated ads. One click on the place-holder loads the actual content when you want to see it (e.g. for YouTube videos).

The upcoming FF3 will be snappier than FF2 is now.

I've adopted a new paranoid security routine where I use one browser for all regular browsing (=Firefox) and another browser (=Safari) only for online banking. My thinking is that if FF gets compromised, it's unlikely that my use of Safari would get sniffed. This is less of an issue on the Mac, but it seemed like a good habit to get into when I heard about it.

Instead of Office for Mac or OpenOffice, I run regular Office 2003 under Parallels. Works pretty well.

Does it have to be an either-or? Mostly I use Safari; it's fast and easy and I like the way it works. Occasionally I use Firefox if Safari's acting up or if something won't load quite right in Safari - this happens once in a while.

I have had more than one person tell me to just run both of them. My big gripe with Firefox is that it doesn't seem to remember my text size settings and defaults back to "very hard to read". It's a big reason I stopped using Firefox on Windows -- IE does a better job of accessibility

Firefox for me. I just didn't get into safari and firefox seems to (mostly) work.

If that is a real problem with Firefox, versus some quirk you just need to run down, then there is very likely an extension / add-on available to correct the problem. Or maybe something like this is of interest: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1459#reviews
